Accrediting Our Private Schools

In this seminar Dr. Miller will discuss the advantages associated with school accreditation. In its last memo to private schools, the MOE wrote:
“…schools must not represent, imply or otherwise advertise that the Ministry has approved, accredited,
regulated, licenced or registered them with the Ministry…”
Accreditation is the means for private schools to demonstrate adherence to rigorous operational and academic standards. Since the MOE does not accredit private schools, how can we pursue accreditation and demonstrate to parents and the broader community adherence to exemplary educational standards? Dr. Miller will discuss the accreditation process with references to AdvancED Accreditation, the world’s largest international accrediting agency.

Dr. Ronnie Miller
Dr. Ronnie Miller received his M.Ed. and Doctorate degree at the University of Toronto, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. He has worked with independent schools in South Africa, Australia, and Canada. His various roles within education have included working as a teacher, department head, and school principal. Dr. Miller is the founder of Professional Development Seminars and the Independent and Private School Forum; professional bodies which support schools and educators in building capacity through ongoing acquisition of knowledge and understanding of current trends in education, superior teaching practices, and sound school governance. Dr. Miller is a published author and an accomplished educator.
