How to Become an Online School

February 23, 2018 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

345 CDN + HST

** Please note: The location and date of this seminar has been recently changed. **

Many, and perhaps most, Ontario schools now use an online platform for some of their students, at least some of the time. Classroom boundaries no longer exist, schools don’t serve a single geographical area, and class schedules are no longer limited to 9 to 4. Don’t get left behind! An online option has become expected by both students and parents. Join us for an informative hands-on seminar on online education in Ontario.

During the seminar, Mr. Christian Bayly will explore the following issues:

  •  The benefits of an online school? Who is it for, and who is it not for?
  • What is involved in the teaching of high school credits online?
  • How do you create online credit courses?
  • What kind of online policies and procedures are required by the MOE?
  • How do you choose the online system which best fits your school’s needs?
  • What is the difference between blended learning and online learning?
  • How do prepare an online school for an inspection?

In this seminar, Mr. Christian Bayly will discuss and demonstrate the use of a popular online platform. Included in this comprehensive discussion will be consideration of how to meet Ministry guidelines and show evidence of instructional and assessment practices for Ministry inspection; mechanisms to monitor student work; how to demonstrate balanced assessment; the use of products, observation and conversation in assessment of students; the use of descriptive feedback in the assessment of students, tracking of the 110 hours of instruction; the difference between synchronous and asynchronous delivery models and the implications for use of each of the models; and much more.

If you’re considering online education, this workshop is a must!

Fees include lunch and free parking
