Maximizing Student Engagement Through Assessment

February 9, 2015 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

One of the most effective means to support student learning and engagement is through assessment for learning: the ongoing process of gathering and interpreting evidence about student learning for the purpose of determining where students are in their learning, where they need to go, and how best to get there.

In this workshop, participants will explore practical ways to embed Assessment for Learning into their teaching. Topics will include:  clarifying and sharing learning intentions, the importance of descriptive feedback as a means for students to own their learning through various forms of documentation. The workshop facilitator will demonstrate how to effectively collect and interpret evidence of learning through products, observation and conversation .

Participants will leave with a variety of new ideas; including the role technology can play in supporting student learning through assessment for learning.
