Planning to Teach High School Credits Online
February 19, 2016 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
345 CDN + HSTOver the last few years, teaching High School credit courses via the internet has become increasingly popular. Many private and independent schools are inquiring about the means for classroom delivery, teaching methodology, and the technical requirements. What is involved in the teaching of high school credits online?
Teaching online requires both the technical know-how, as well as solid online classroom management skills. Special attention to course development and innovative assessment plans are also required.
In this workshop, Mr. Christian Bayly will discuss and demonstrate the use of one particular platform. Included in this comprehensive discussion will be considerations of how we can meet Ministry guidelines and show evidence during inspections; mechanisms to monitor student work, behavior and practice; how we can demonstrate balanced assessment; the use of products, observation and conversation in our assessment of our students; the use of descriptive feedback in the assessment of our students, tracking of the 110 hours of instruction; the difference between synchronous and asynchronous delivery models and the implications for use of each of the models; and much, much more.
Dr. Miller will then further review the implications of online delivery on the inspection process and the need to provide evidence.
Join us for a three hour workshop with Mr. Christian Bayly and Dr. Ronnie Miller who will lead us through this learning process. If you’re considering online courses or if online education is a topic of interest to you, this workshop is a must-see!
