Social-Emotional Learning in the Classroom: It’s not an “Add-on”… It’s a Necessity

March 5, 2019 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The research is in, our students need our support in learning how to manage their emotions and social interactions as much, or maybe more, than they need our support in subject content areas.

How can we add to our tool-box, so we can add to their tool box in these critical areas? How can we explain the necessary changes in our classroom practice to our administrators, our colleagues, and the parents of our students? All this and more will be discussed and explained in this exciting day of learning for teachers wanting more practical ideas pertaining to teaching emotional self-regulation, encouraging grit and a growth mindset, and exposing the dangers of hyper self-criticism, perfectionism, and shame.

Join Dr. Donna Kester Phillips Ph.D., Associate Professor, College of Education, Niagara University, as she explains and models how to embed these necessary learnings into your classroom practice.
