The New B.C. Curriculum: Inquiry-based Learning to Enhance Student Engagement and Understanding – Kelowna

October 1, 2015 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

The new BC curriculum, with its increased focus on thinking competencies and big ideas, provides the necessary space and opportunity for teachers to design learning around meaningful tasks, higher order thinking skills, and student interests and passions. Across British Columbia, teachers, schools and districts are embracing student-centered, inquiry-based learning as a critical means to engage students and develop the skills necessary for today’s world. This practical, hands-on workshop will introduce a design framework for engagement and understanding, while also providing strategies to develop a culture of thinking in the classroom.

Participants will leave this seminar with many ideas, strategies and resources to approach the new BC curriculum.

Target Audience: Elementary and High School teachers; all grades, disciplines, and courses
